DETROIT (WWJ) ? After a decade-long battle, Detroit?s Hotel Charlevoix ?has been approved for demolition. The tear-down in Grand Circus Park could begin as early as next week.

For the past several years, bricks and glass have periodically fallen from the 108-year old building onto the ground below?almost hitting a child in one case.

The Charlevoix has been empty for the past 30 years.
